Day 1: Cusco – Abra Malaga – Santa María 60km of Biking + 1.5 hours of RIVER RAFTING
We start our adventure early in the morning in Cusco; We pick you up from your hotel around 6 am. We take you by car through the amazing sacred valley of the Incas. Passing the hometown of Chinchero with stunning views of Vilcabamba and the Vilcanota mountain range and enjoying the panoramic views of the small towns in the sacred valley, after 2 hours of travel we stop at the Inca town of Ollantaytambo to stretch our legs and use the bathroom. . Then we continue driving the car to the Abra Málaga pass at 4350 m 14271 ft, at this point we are going to start biking to the city of Santa Maria at 1430 m 4691 ft. At Abra Málaga, you will get all the cycling equipment and also a bicycle training to ensure the triumphant arrival in the city of Santa María. The cycling begins high in the Andes with the majestic view of snow-covered Verónica. Downhill by bike from Abra Málaga to the Inca site of Huamanmarca to have lunch and explore the small Inca ruins of Huamanmarca. Then, we go back to the car to get to Santa Maria to do white river rafting in the afternoon. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the view of the beautiful landscape. Once in Santa María, you will go to the lodgings to take a shower and relax. In the evening, dinner at the town restaurant.
Day 2: Santa Maria – Quellomayo – Santa Teresa 22 km of Hiking.
Our hiking day begins with an energetic breakfast at the restaurant around 6:00 am. Today is one of the most remarkable days of the entire adventure. We started walking the car route for about 45 minutes. Then we go into the original Inca trail that used to be to connect Machu Picchu with Vilcabamba considered the last Inca capital. On the way, we appreciate many banana, coca, cassava, coffee, etc. plantations. 3 hour hike on the original Inca trail with magnificent views of the Vilcanota valley and panoramic views of the hills covered in a different type of jungle plantations. . We stop in the town of Quellomayo for lunch, a good place to have lunch in one of the local restaurants, after lunch you can rest or walk. Then, we continue the walk along the Vilcanota River 3.5 hours of walking to reach the hot springs of Colcamayo. This natural, outdoor hot spring is great for a muscle to relax after your hike, you can spend a couple of hours in the hot springs before continuing your hike to Santa Teresa. After 45 minutes of walking from the hot springs, we arrive at Santa Teresa. Overnight in Santa Teresa at the lodge and dinner at the local restaurant.
Day 3: Santa Teresa – Hydroelectric Plant – Aguas Calientes 2 hours Zip Line + 10 km Hiking.
We wake up early at 5:30 a.m. for breakfast and to take the early morning bus up to Machu Picchu. Arriving early at Machu Picchu will allow you to witness the beauty and the magic of this ancient city in the early morning light. Once in Machu Picchu, you will have a two hour guided tour of this ancient city. After the tour, you will have free time to explore the city on your own.
After you finish exploring Machu Picchu, you will take the bus or walk back down to Aguas Calientes, where you will catch a train back to the Sacred Valley. You can expect to arrive back in Ollantaytambo by 8:30 p.m. From there, we will transfer you by bus back to your hotel in Cusco.
Day 4: Machu Picchu – Cusco
The last day of the tour you will visit Machu Picchu. You must get up around 4:00 am to prepare for the walk to the main entrance of Machu Picchu. After taking your breakfast pack, you start walking to the Puente Ruinas checkpoint for 30 minutes, which is open at 5:00 am, where you have to show your passport and Machu Picchu tickets. After passing the first checkpoint, you will walk all the way upstairs for one hour to the main gate of Machu Picchu to be there around 6:00 am. Once everyone meets at the gate, enter Machu Picchu for the 2.5-hour guided tour to learn all about The Lost City of the Incas. After the guided tour you will have free time to explore the Inca city of Machu Picchu on your own. The time you will spend in Machu Picchu will depend on how you like to return to Cusco and it will also depend on whether you want to climb Machu Picchu Mountain or Huayna Picchu Mountain which you must book in advance. We offer you two options to return to Cusco after visiting Machu Picchu.
